Many agencies that offer the “mystery shopping” service in Bulgaria have reached the conclusion that, to most Bulgarian companies, the “mystery shopping” marketing research method is still unknown. In the past 3 years “mystery shopping” has been a practice in Bulgaria and yet, nowadays, merely 100 companies use it, while the potential for this type of research in our country is around 500-800 companies.

While the “mystery shopping” marketing service is very popular in the USA and Western Europe, the industry is still developing in Bulgaria. There are no official statistics about the service in this country but, according to Zlatizar Zlatev, CEO of one of the leading Bulgarian companies in this sphere – Client X, the annual turnover of the mystery shopping service does not exceed 1-1.2 million BGN.

Every one of us has had an experience with impolite and unresponsive employees or has had to deal with disloyalty and fraud.
Never mind the causes, the result is always loss of customers, profit and prestige. To avoid situations such as these, one of the methods that has been applied most often lately, to observe and improve the quality of service, is the mystery shopping method.
